Phuket Thailand Tourist Activities
Simon Cabaret
A
super-deluxe drag-queen cabaret show. A popular attraction in all of the
beach resorts in Thailand. Many Thai transvestites demonstrate a real
talent in dressing as women, singing and dancing. A favored tourist destination
in spite of the fact they adhere to the policy of charging foreign guests
more than visiting Thais. Two shows daily at 7:30 and 9:30 PM. Located
100/6-8 Mu 4 Patong-Karon Road.
Phuket Butterfly
Farm & Aquarium
Open daily 9AM-6PM, Tel: 215 616. A world
of free flying butterflies in a man-made tropical environment
that contains thousands of colorful-winged butterflies in
various stages of their lifecycles. It is impressive to see
so many butterflies at one time feeding and fluttering on
flowers and plants. Included is an educational illustration
on the birth of these beautiful creatures and how they perform
a vital function in our natural environment. Adjoining to
the garden is a large collection of tropical insects from
the forests of Phuket including some huge beetles, and a scorpion
pit.
The Aquarium is filled with numerous tanks
of colorful corals and some strange looking fish like the
dog-face puffer and the long-horned cowfish. Bigger specimens
include giant moray eels, sleek black tip sharks, and a playful
otter in its own water-world.
From Phuket Town drive north on Yaowarat
Road 3km (2miles). Turn left and then right into Paniang Lane,
following the signs some 700m to the Phuket Butterfly Garden
and Aquarium.

Thai
Village
Two shows daily, 11 AM and 5:30 PM Tickets
cost 220 baht, children at half price. Reserve a seat by calling
214-860 or 214-861 or you can book through a travel agent.
Like the Thai Village locations in Bangkok and Chiang Mai,
it provides visitors with a brief sampling of southern Thai
culture. A colorful medley of classical and folk dances, sword
fighting, the bamboo art of self defense, and Thai boxing,
the finale is a Thai wedding. All performed in native costumes.
A demonstration on tin mining and rubber tapping reflect two
of the major natural resources of Phuket. After the show,
exit the hall to an outdoor arena where elephants show how
they handle huge teak logs. In an open-air area, artisans
demonstrate how southern crafts are made. Near the entrance
of the village are nurseries filled with some 40,000 beautiful
orchids that may be purchased and shipped home as gifts. To
reach the Thai village, drive north on Thepkastri Road (H402).
Turn left at KM2.5, just before a huge BMW sign, drive 1km
(1/2 mile) more and park.
Phuket
Seashell Museum
Open daily
the usual business hours a truly remarkable building. The
museum is in reality Phukets oldest and most comprehensive
shell shop. Many cheap and unusual gifts.

Dino
Park
Dino Park is a combination of good food,
good fun and special atmosphere.
Experience Phuket's only active volcano, gentle streams and
pre-historic caves in a fantasy landscape offering great family
entertainment on Kata Beach.
Snake
Farm
Part of the Phuket Shooting Range complex this show is
part educational with demonstrations on what to if you encounter
a snake in the wild, and how to treat a wound if you are unfortunate
enough to be bitten. Very useful information because there are a
large number of snakes living on Phuket including the king Cobra.
The part of the show that includes seemingly sensible young men
dance around, kiss, and otherwise annoy the snakes may make you
a bit squeamish. Follow the directions to the Phuket Shooting Range.
